Dixie Lee Crapo Poulin was born on September 15,1946 in Whitefield, NH to Russell and Margaret Crapo. She passed away after a period of failing health at her daughter's home in Milton Mills, NH on November 30, 2023.
Dixie attended Whitefield High School as part of the class of 1961. In her teen years and young adult life her journey started on some dimly lit paths filled with difficult obstacles and often misleading trails that she maneuvered through with heartbreaks and some regrets. With much self determination and strength gained from lessons learned, she carried on with dignity and hope and, at last, found a path that was clear of all the difficult obstacles and was finally sunlit. This was the path that led her to her prince charming, Paul C. Poulin, where her journey in life would be shared. They were married on December 22, 1978 and lived in the Rochester area for almost 30 years. Dixie worked different jobs until she obtained her license to operate her own daycare center, which she had for many years, called Dixie's Gingerbread House. Dixie ended her employed years as a CNA working in home care.
In her younger years, Dixie was an amazing cake decorator and baker. She loved to laugh with friends and family. Dixie had the best smile, it could light a room. She always put on quite the spread for Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. She enjoyed throwing the funnest parties for her daughter and her friends on every holiday, birthday and any other celebrations. Dixie loved going to Bingo, playing scratch tickets and going to the casino with Paul. This was their favorite getaway together and always put the biggest smile on her face.
In 2005, Dixie and Paul purchased a humble mobile home and moved to Dalton, NH to settle near the beauty of the White Mountains. Living on Meadow Mist Drive was exactly where they loved being. Dixie loved her music, the oldies and country were always on while she played games on her computer.
She will be missed beyond words.
She leaves behind her daughter, Michelle Parlato and her husband Matthew and their son, Quinton of Milton Mills, NH; son, David Poulin of Gonic, NH; daughter-in-law, Andrea Smith Greene; sister, Bonnie Pineo of Lisbon, NH; and extended family, including Tina Norris Hussey and her husband of PA, Candy Finley of NH, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, a great granddaughter, her confidant and dearest friend, Priscilla Platt of Dalton, NH and many other friends that loved her and considered her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul C. Poulin; daughter, Lisa Leonard Dresser; son, Daniel Greene; four brothers; and sister, Patricia Darling.
A special thank you to Carol and Ron from North Country Home and Hospice and to the amazing staff at Amedisys Hospice for your kindness and compassion.
