Donald E. Chase, 72, of Concord, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at home after a long illness. Donald is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean C. (Hannan) Chase of Concord; his children, Donna Searsilloni of Andover, Karen Yellen of Concord and Robert Chase of Loudon; a brother, Kenneth Chase of Sebago, Maine; sisters, Arlene Clow of Sebago, Maine, Elizabeth Wasson of Tamworth, Carol Potter of Conway, Barbara Schultz of South Carolina and Nancy Johnston of Conway; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Bruce Chase; his parents, Everett and Marie (Sharon) Chase; a sister, Linda Chase; and a brother, Peter Chase. Donald was born in Laconia in 1935. He attended Laconia High School and was a member of the New Hampshire National Guard. He was the leader of Hannan's Maurders Drum Corps, resulting in an award for his service to the youth of Franklin in 1975. Donald was employed by Sprague Electric as an electrician for 35 years before retiring. While working at Sprague, he played and coached softball. After retiring, he worked at New Hampshire Tech. School and Wyman and Gordon. After retiring from full-time work, he worked part time at Sanel Auto Parts. Donald was an active member of the West Congregational Church in West Concord, where he served on the board of trustees. He was a member of the We-Co-Wacs Club, a community/church/social group. He loved watching sports and was a big fan of Concord High football, or any sport his family members were involved in. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family. Calling hours will not be held. Memorial services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at West Congregational Church. Graveside services will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association, Hospice House, P.O. Box 1797, Concord 03302-1797; or to West Congregational Church, Hutchins Street, Concord 03301.
