Donald Duguay

Donald Earl Duguay, 83, passed away at his son's home in Auburn on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 after a period of declining health. He was born on February 5, 1931 in Manchester, NH, the son of the late Walter and Marion (Brooks) Duguay.

He attended Manchester schools. He worked in the Arms Textile Mill, where he met the love of his life, Sylvia. They married on July 4, 1951, and shared 52 years of marriage, prior to her passing in October, 2003.

Don served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War. In his earlier years he was employed as a truck driver for Silver Brothers and as an oil burner technician for Manchester Tire and Battery. He later retired from Osram Sylvania in Manchester.

For many years Don and Sylvia were seasonal campers at King's and Queen's Court Vacation Resort in South Lebanon, Maine. Don enjoyed attending NASCAR races, daily walks near the Manchester Airport with his dog, and any dessert made of chocolate.

He took great pride in his role of father, and truly loved being a grandfather to his two granddaughters. Later in life, he enjoyed living with his son and his family. Their presence brought joy into his life each day.

He is survived by his son, Clayton Duguay and wife Sandra (Davis) Duguay of Auburn, and granddaughters Elizabeth Duguay of Auburn and Vanessa Duguay of Washington, D.C. He is survived by his sister Barbara Brown of Manchester, sister-in-law Doris Duguay of Manchester, and sister-in-law Sr. Arlene Callahan of Rivier University, Nashua, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Sylvia (Callahan) Duguay, his brother Kenneth Duguay, and sisters Arline Gaffney and Dorothy Cote.

Don was a quiet man who never spoke an unkind word, and never ever complained. He will be deeply missed by many, including his dog, Clover.
