Donald A Dunn Sr.

Donald A. Dunn Sr. passed away on October 28th, 2021 in the comfort of his home in Manchester, NH at the age of 83. On January 30th, 1938 he was born to Arthur and Mary (Plowright) Dunn in Manchester.

Donald was a man devoted to many things throughout his life and a lifelong coach. At the age of 16, he began to work for the City of Manchester and retired as the Highway Superintendent after dedicating 46 years to the city he loved since his youth.

Sports consumed a large part of Donald’s heart, basketball and baseball being at the forefront. As an adult he coached basketball for the CYO as well as the Special Olympics and little league baseball. Once you were part of a team mentored by Donald, you were part of his life forever.

His Irish heart always put a song on his lips that would bring a smile to everyone’s face. Donald’s love for his wife, Joan, and his family was apparent during life’s joyful moments and even more so during the holidays. He was a gentle man with a demeanor of calmness that would permeate a room the moment he entered.

Donald was predeceased by his parents and three siblings: Louise, Arthur and Richie. Donald is survived by his wife, Joan, of over 30 years as well as his sons Donald Jr. of NH, Christopher and his wife Wendy of FL and his daughter Linda of N.C. His stepsons Mark Malouin and wife Jeannette of FL, Todd and Dawna Malouin of Bedford and Lory Malouin of Weare. Donald had many grandchildren and several great grandchildren that all loved and adored their ‘Papa’.

At Donald’s request, there will be no calling hours and a small service will be held at a later date.
