Donald Ross Lane (74) of Bow, New Hampshire peacefully passed away December 19, 2023, after a lengthy battle with cancer and Parkinson's disease. Don was born December 09, 1949, in Summit, NJ, to Ross and Virginia Lane. He is survived by his wife Katharine (Kitty) Lane of Bow, NH; daughter Jennifer (Jenn) Lane and daughter in law Kayla of New Boston, NH; and his siblings Ruth Beauchesne and Fred Gauteson.
Don was a lifelong resident of New Hampshire, growing up on farms in Wilton and Warner. He attended Lafayette College in Pennsylvania, where he met his wife Kitty during his freshman year at a mixer. Don and Kitty married in 1971, and purchased their home in Bow in 1976. Don served as a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Bow for several years, and later in life was a member of the planning board.
Don prided himself on working on projects around his farm and at friends and family residences. He was an enthusiastic and skilled woodworker, creating beautiful pieces from trees cut from his own property. In his spare time, Don loved exploring rural New Hampshire, golfing, and spending time with family. Don had many canine companions who he loved deeply over the course of his life and is now reunited with.
The family is deeply grateful for the care provided by Dr Michael Jacklitsch, and the Brigham thoracic team, for giving Don so many extra years. We also appreciate the amazing staff of unit 11D at BWH and Granite VNA Hospice for making Don's last few months as best as possible. Donations can be made in his memory to Pope Memorial SPCA in Concord, NH and Granite VNA Hospice in Concord, NH.
Don is remembered by family and friends for his smile and sense of humor even when facing adversity. A celebration of Don's life will be planned for spring 2024, please contact Jenn Lane for details.
