Donald J. Nathan Sr, 91, of Mont Vernon died May 20, 2003 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua following an illness. Mr. Nathan was born in Lewiston, Maine on October 3, 1911, the son of Julius and Olivette (Beauchea) Nathan. He was educated in Lewiston and Rumford, Maine schools. For many years he had managed the family's clothing store in Rumford. He married Alice Larmey of Rumford in 1937. He had served on the Local Red Cross Disaster Relief Committee and was a past Exalted Ruler of the Rumford, Maine Lodge of Elks #862. In 1953 he moved to Boston, MA where he was employed in management capacity by department and discount chains until he retired in 1974. He was a long time member of the D.A.V. National Commanders Club. Family members include; a daughter, Sheryl O. James of Littleton, MA, three sons, Donald J. Nathan of Brockton, MA, Douglas J. Nathan of Frederick, Maryland and David W. Nathan of Jamaica Plain, MA; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife in 1987 after 50 years of marriage. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 24th at 2:00 PM at St. Anne's Church in Littleton, MA. Burial will be in the family lot at St. John's Cemetery in Rumford, Maine.
