Donald S. Simmons, 68, of 19 Rita Avenue in Derry died October 16, 2002 at Elliot Hospital in Manchester after a short battle with lung cancer. Mr. Simmons was born on August 21, 1934 in Haverhill, MA son of the late Ernest and Ruth (Smythe) Simmons. He was a truck driver for Corenco in Lowell, MA for 13 years and then for Brinks in Lawrence, MA for 10 years. Prior to his illness, he enjoyed fishing, archery and bow hunting. Family members include; four daughters, Victoria Simmons of Derry, Lisa Snow of Nashua, Donna Simmons of Nashua and Darlene Simmons of Lowell, MA; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Joseph Simmons of Raymond and Richard ''Dickie'' Simmons and Harry Simmons both of Salisbury, MA; one sister Shirley Murray of Merrimack, MA; many nieces and nephews; and his companion of many years, Coral James of Derry. Mr. Simmons was predeceased by his wife, Ellen (Dearborn) Simmons in October of 1994 and by a daughter, Michelle Simmons as well as by two brothers, Billy Simmons and Bob Simmons.
