Donna Marie Holmgren

Donna Marie (Butler) Holmgren, 66, died July 13, 2020 in Concord, NH. She bravely fought pancreatic cancer and kidney failure for many years. In the end, she succumbed to cardiac arrest surrounded by her loving family. Donna was born on October 28, 1953 in Brockton, MA, the youngest child of Edward and Shirley Butler. She married Paul Holmgren in 1971 and bore two daughters, Sara and Lauren.

Donna was honest and bold, never shying away from love or loss, she led a life full of deep connections. She was the first to call with a birthday song and one of the last to leave family gatherings. Her times spent at the ocean, near the pool, or enjoying the mountain air were some that she cherished most throughout her life. Her two grandchildren, Lucas and Isaac Dow, brought her such happiness and joy that carried her through her last years of her many illnesses. She will be remembered as the strongest and bravest woman many of us have ever known.

She is survived by her caring husband Paul, daughter Sara and her husband Michael Birmingham, daughter Lauren and her husband Josh Dow along with their children Lucas and Isaac. She was predeceased by her brother Eddie Butler and his wife Ann. She leaves her brother Gerry Butler and his wife Jerri, brother Bob Butler and his wife Gail, sister Patty and her husband Jeff Bassett, and sister Janet and her husband Don Buckley. She had many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Her enthusiasm and playful lust for life will be missed so much by all who were lucky enough to love her.

A memorial service with social distancing and masks will be held on Saturday July 18th, 11 am, at Central United Methodist Church in Middleboro, MA. A celebration of Donna's life is to follow at her sister Janet's home.
