Donna Marie (Allaire) Hughes, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2026.

Donna was born on May 12, 1943, in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, and was adopted later that year by Hazel Cowen Allaire and George Allaire of East Orange, New Jersey, along with her brother, Herb. She was raised in East Orange and graduated from Clifford J. Scott High School, Class of 1961.

She went on to earn her degree in education from Newark State College (now Kean University) in 1966, beginning a lifelong dedication to teaching and shaping young minds.

Donna spent many years as a beloved teacher at Mount Arlington Elementary School, where she primarily taught history. She was known for her steady presence, her kindness, and the lasting impact she had on generations of students and colleagues.

She raised her family in New Jersey, first in Glen Ridge and later in Mount Arlington. Above all, Donna was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her children and grandchildren beyond measure.

Donna had a deep love for music and life. She was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley, loved to dance, and enjoyed playing both the piano and the accordion. She found joy in being around friends, volunteering her time, and supporting her family—whether driving carpools or simply always being there when needed.

She is survived by her children: Debbie Keesey (Ron) of Raymond, New Hampshire; Dianne Kimble of Cape Coral, Florida and Craig Tillotson of South Carolina and her beloved grandchildren, Jason, Toby, and Cooper.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and George Allaire.

Her family finds comfort knowing she is now at peace, free from the breathing struggles she faced in recent years, and able to rest.
