Doris Helen (Pray) Colprit passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 17, 2006. She was born on March 19, 1931. Her parents, George Stanley Pray and Vivian Francis (Bradbury) raised their four daughters on their Tolend Road family farm. Throughout their lives Doris and her three sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Boulanger, Rebecca Proulx and Alice Purington enjoyed a close and loving relationship. Doris often spoke of her childhood with great fondness and told stories of her wonderful relationships with her parents, sisters and especially her grandmother Alice Pray. She enjoyed cooking, homemaking, knitting and crocheting. She was devoted to her mother and they shared their home together most of her mothers life. Doris was an avid reader and loved a good mystery. She was also a big Boston Red Sox fan and loved to watch Manny play! But most of all, she loved her family. The Fourth of July was her favorite holiday because that is when the entire family would get together. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a kind and gentle soul and her children Dawn-Marie Dellner, Dale Riordon, Denise Penttila and Dean Penttila were blessed to have her as their mom. She was a very special person in many ways. Always caring and compassionate. Her grand children were a great joy to her. Kyla, Amy, Abby, Allison, Ian and Sarah filled her life with excitement and liveliness. A special spark in her life was her great-grandson Zachary. She enjoyed many good times with her brothers-in-law Raymond Boulanger, Bertrand Proulx and Everett Purington. She loved her nephews David, Denis, Kirk, Barry, Bryan, Peter and Paul and her only niece Diane. She also loved her sons-in-law Mark and Dan and her daughter-in-law Deborah. She greatly valued her lifelong friendships with Lorraine York and Doris Desautel. Prior to her retirement Doris worked at Elliot Rose Co. in Madbury and Elliot- Williams Rose Co. in Dover. During her years there she enjoyed many warm friendships. Doris will be remembered by everyone as a happy and giving woman with the wonderful gift of being truly able to love. There will be a celebration of her life for family and friends on Sunday, July 30th at her daughter Dawn-Maries home in Rochester, NH. Donations may be made in her memory to Cocheco Valley Humane Society to honor her love for animals.
