Doris "Dorie" McTague

In loving memory of Doris “Dorie” McTague who peacefully passed away on June 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. We celebrate the life of an extraordinary woman whose legacy of grace, kindness, love, and selflessness left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Dorie was born in Arlington, MA to the late Joseph and Theresa (Crocco) Galli. Dorie was married to her beloved husband, the late Arthur McTague for 65 years.  Dorie is survived by her children:  Robert McTague and his wife Benita; Elaine Stedman and her husband Craig; Kathy Lavina and her husband Richard; Brian McTague and his wife LeAnne; and Susan Arsenault and her husband Dana.  Dorie is also survived by her brother Dan Galli and his wife Lou, her sister Irene Spinosa, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Her legacy lives on through the boundless love and wisdom she shared with her family, instilling in them the value of strength, integrity and resilience.  Driven by her thirst for knowledge, she pursued her education with determination, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University in 1951. Armed with her academic achievements, she embarked on a fulfilling career journey, first as a passionate educator shaping young minds, and later as a respected real estate executive, where her integrity and work ethic shone brightly.

Upon retirement in 1992, she and Art found tranquility in sun-drenched Ocala, Florida where she enjoyed an active life with golf, dance, friends and travel. Dorie’s warmth and approachability endeared her to many. Her conversations were filled with empathy and wisdom which was a gift she shared generously.

Born with a heart full of compassion, she was guided by her unwavering faith and commitment to her church community and often volunteered her time to helping others in need. Her contentment came from simple pleasures as she taught us that happiness resides in appreciating life’s small moments.

Though she may have left this earthly realm, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to call her friend, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Her legacy of love, faith, and generosity will continue to inspire and uplift generations to come, a testament to the remarkable woman she was and the profound impact she had on the world.
