Dorothy Emma Foster

Dorothy Emma Foster, aged 93, passed away on January 30 ,2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Dorothy was born on August 4, 1930 in Brattleboro, Vt, where she spent her formative years. She went on to attend Nursing school at Henry M Putnam Memorial Hospital in Bennington Vt where she graduated in 1951. Dorothy later went on to become a Nurse at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital where she continued to work for almost 50 years. Throughout her career, she was known for her hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others.

But more than anything, Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother. She loved spending time with her family, sharing stories, reading and traveling to her favorite places. She was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced.

In her free time, Dorothy enjoyed gardening and was always eager to share her knowledge and enthusiasm with others. She was an active member of her community, always volunteering for various causes and organizations, especially the American Red Cross.

Dorothy is predeceased by her husband Elton Foster, and two sisters Barbara Cooke and Marion Elhers.  She is survived by her sister Eleanor Morre, her children, Mary Stephens, Charles Cleveland Jr., and Deborah Momaney as well as two step children Donna Foster and Darlene Wisell. In addition, 13 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

A private funeral service will be held for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Red Cross Organization.
