She was born on October 7, 1935 in Portland, Maine. She graduated in 1957 from Gorham State Teachers College. Dorothy married Franklin A. Hamlyn on June 9, 1957.
She was a loving wife and mother. She is survived by her husband Frank, her children Candace Ferrell of Birmingham, AL; Perry Hamlyn of Tewksbury, MA and Robin Knight of Sandown, NH. She is survived by eight grandchildren.
