Dorothy Nelson, 74, of Exeter, New Hampshire, passed away on January 3, 2014 after a 3 ½ year battle with Binswanger's disease.
She was born to Howard and Dorothy (Kusch) Sutliffe in Newark, New Jersey on February 19, 1939. Dorothy graduated from Sayreville High School in 1956.
She married the late Arthur Iner Nelson in 1963 and they lived together and raised a family in Avenel, New Jersey for 40 years.
She worked at the Woodbridge Board of Education for more than 25 years and retired to Exeter, New Hampshire in 2005. Dorothy and Arthur loved to travel and took exciting vacations each year. She also enjoyed shopping and going to Atlantic City and Las Vegas with her sister Marti.
She was survived by her sister and best friend, Martha Read of Cape May Courthouse, New Jersey and her 3 children; Mark Nelson and his wife Christine of Hampton Falls, New Hampshire, Darlene Livingston and her husband Mike of Auburn, New Hampshire, and Eric Nelson and his wife Jennifer of Manalapan, New Jersey. She also is survived by 9 grandchildren Gunnar, Kirsten, Anika, Matthew, Ethan, Jacob, Luke, Caitlin and Jaxon.
ARRANGEMENTS: Services will be held privately. Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover St., Manchester. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Dorothy's memory to The Alzheimer's Association, Chapter Headquarters of Mass. and New Hampshire, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
