Dorothy (Tierney)Rivet 83, passed away at Harborside Healthcare in the early morning hours of December 26, 2007 where she was surrounded by her loving family. She was a lifelong resident of Manchester, and recently moved to Bedford where she spent her last year at Briston Manor West. Born in Manchester on February 27, 1924 she was the loving daughter of Thomas P. and Dora M. (Doucette) Tierney.Dorothy attended Goffes Falls School in the Goffes Falls section of South Manchester and worked at JF Mc Elwain Shoe Co where she met Marcel, her husband of over fifty years. She was a devoted homemaker and loving mother to six children. Dorothy is survived by; three daughters, Kathleen Iacovella of Manchester, Donna Morgan of Manchester, Brenda Gonzalez of, San Antonio, TX, and three sons; Kenneth Rivet of Center Barnstead, Arthur Rivet of Derry and Mark Rivet of Manchester. A sister, Geneive Brewer of Candia, 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren along with several Nephews, Nieces, and Cousins In her life: She was an avid collector of local history. Her main passion was in the preservation and sharing of the history of Goffes Falls. Dorothy contributed many documents and artifacts to the New Hampshire Historical Society and The City of Manchester. She also provided many items for a Pine Island Park exhibit at the Manchester Millyard Museum. Dorothy was known for contributing historical guidance, photographs and documents to numerous local authors for print and film publications; Dorothy was among a group of people who are dedicated to telling the story of Goffes Falls as well as Pine Island Park where she had worked as a teenager. Before her failing health, she was an avid gardener and was known for her red, white and blue petunias whose blossoms always graced the flagpole of her South Manchester home. Dorothy spent her lifetime enjoying writing whimsical poems and drawings which she often shared with family and friends. She loved to laugh and make others laugh. She is also survived by her close friend Esther Theodore. Dorothy was predeceased by; her Husband Marcel in October of 2000, as well as two sisters, Catherine Ritter and Mary Theodore and a brother Michael Tierney. Graveside services will be held in the spring at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
