Douglas Robert Feltmate died peacefully at home from complications of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) on May 7, 2024. He was born November 22, 1940, the second son to Clarence and Antoinette (Annette) Feltmate. He grew up in Woodhaven and Port Jefferson, New York. Doug graduated from Rhodes Preparatory School in Manhattan. He served in the US Navy from 1960-64. He later received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Lowell Technical College.
He married Janice (Just) Martin in 1961. They settled in Merrimack, NH. They had two daughters, Colleen and Heather. He met his second wife, Linda while working at Signal Science. They married in 1979. Doug loved working with his hands and being outdoors. He and Linda moved away from the “rat race” to Pittsburg, NH. They ran a successful business of rental cabins on First Connecticut Lake, Timberland Lodge and Cabins, for 23 years.
Doug loved science, nature, photography, hunting, guns, chopping wood and motorcycle riding. He also enjoyed fine wine, food and traveling.
He was predeceased by his parents Clarence and Annette, brother Walter Feltmate and step-daughter Kerrie Sylvestro. He is survived by Linda (Fitzgerald) Feltmate, daughters Colleen and Heather Feltmate, nieces Traci (Feltmate) Manzello, Michelle Gaudette, and several grandchildren.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be held on June 15 at Sawyer’s Main Street Breakfast and Function Hall in Goffstown, NH. Please RSVP: hfeltmate4@gmail.com.
