Earl H. Tatro, 82, of 644 Warwick Road, Winchester, died November 18, 2005 at Brattleboro Hospital. He was born in Readsboro, VT on May 19, 1923, the son of Earl E. and Edythe (Phelps) Tatro. He was a World War II Army Veteran where he served in the E.T.O., and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was currently working for Plumb Pac where he was employed for the past five years. Prior to that, he worked for Paper Services, Ltd. He was a member of the Winchester VFW Post 03968 and the United Church of Winchester. He loved watching birds in his backyard and reading poetry. He also enjoyed his two cats, Taz and Boots. Family members include his wife of 35 years, Katherine A. (Knapp) Tatro; a son David Earl Tatro of Ashuelot and Richard Chester Tatro of Winchester; a daughter, Shirley Jean Powers of Winchester; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; two brothers, Robert C. Tatro of Winchester and Glenyth M. Tatro of Hanover, CT; two sisters, Joanne Miner of Winchester and Gertrude Ridley of East Swanzey; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Ray Earl Tatro who died in 1990 and by a daughter, Carol Ann Tatro who died in 1949. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Geraldine Miner and Joyce Gregory. A graveside committal service with military honors will take place on Wednesday at 10:30 AM in Evergreen Cemetery, Winchester with the Rev Nancy Wood-Lyczak of the United Church of Winchester officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Church of Winchester. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements.
