Edgar H. Nickerson, 83, of 31 Fowler Street, died on April 22, 2001 at Concord Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Nickerson was born on March 1, 1918 in Plymouth, MA the son of the late Royal and Bertha (Nickerson) Nickerson. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1936 and moved to Hillsboro, New Hampshire in 1940 where he worked for Hillsboro Woolen for 6 years. He entered the army in 1942 and was a Sergeant 5th Infantry Regiment 71st Division. He toured in France, Germany and Austria and received the 3 Campaign Ribbon, Combat Infantryman Badge and Bronze Star. Mr. Nickerson was honorably discharge in 1945. In 1951 he moved to Penacook and worked for Allied Leather for 31 years. Mr. Nickerson was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars in Penacook, the American Legion of Penacook and Merrimack and the County Artisans of Concord. His hobbies included woodcraft and golf. Family members include; his wife, Irene (Foote) Nickerson of Penacook; one son, Richard E. Nickerson of Boscawen; two daughters, Linda Kelley of Junction City, Kansas and Donna Felbaum of Saco, Maine; two stepsons, Albert Robichaud of Deering and James Hammond of Franklin; one stepdaughter, Sandra Hazeltine of Penacook; one brother, Royal Bryant of Plymouth, MA; one sister, Evylin Graham of West Palm Beach, Florida; seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours and burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Penacook at a later date.
