Edith H.
Dopp
Apr 28, 1943 — Aug 13, 2026
Alton, NH
Edith (Eedee) Hilliard Dopp, 83, of Alton, NH passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Born on April 28, 1943 in Claremont, NH, Eedee was the daughter of Marion Prescott Hillard and Alton Marshall Hilliard. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and wife whose life was defined by kindness and devotion to family.
She attended Claremont Schools and graduated from Stevens High School in 1961. After graduation she attended the Mary Hitchcock Memorial school of nursing in Hanover, NH and received her license in practical nursing (LPN).
Eedee is survived by her loving husband, Gerald Dopp (Jerry) of Alton, NH; her two daughters, Jackie Lacy and her husband, Waine of Deerfield, NH, and Cheryl Dopp and her husband, Douglas Burner of Fleetwood, PA, and her sister, Eleanor Hilliard Dickens of Kennebunk, ME. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren, Amanda, Madelyn, Emily, Kristen, Melissa, Jonathan, and Jenna as well as 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and step sister Cynthia Pederson.
Eedee was very talented. She was proficient in many crafts including knitting, sewing, rug braiding, quilting, crocheting, and painting. She found great joy in making clothes, quilts, and sweaters for her children and grandchildren as well as children in need. She even made her daughter's prom and wedding dresses.
Eedee enjoyed spending time outdoors. She had a great love for flowers and always had one of the most colorful and beautiful yards in the neighborhood. She had a thing for very large rocks and had no problem asking the guys to move them into her garden. Her other love was spending time at lakes and oceans and was known for taking a dip soon after the ice melted.
She has dedicated most of her adult life to caring for children and working at child development centers in various communities.
The family would like to thank the hospice team at Cornerstone VNA of Farmington, NH for their compassionate care and support during her final days. It was through that support that Eedee was able to be at home during her final days, surrounded by friends and family who loved her dearly.
SERVICES: A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Eedee will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on through the family, friends, and the countless lives she touched.
