Edie (Edith) Gladys (Cameron) Russell passed peacefully in her home on Monday, May17th in Dorchester, NH at the age of 87 surrounded by her family after an illness.
She married Jack (John) (Firth) Russell in 1954 and lived in Salem, NH most of her adult life. Edie worked at Digital Equipment Corp. as an assembler in Salem until her early retirement at the age of 61. In 2010 she moved to Weare, NH to "the She was born in Stoneham, MA and attended Medford schools, graduating from Medford High School in 1952 farm" with her son and daughter-in-law.
Edie was an avid reader and loved mysteries. She loved to help on the farm and loved the horses and other farm animals. Her favorite horse was a Belgian named Duke. Edie was an accomplished knitter and loved to knit sweaters and things for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to play cards with her family, doing crossword puzzles - Sudoku puzzles were her favorite and watching the different birds out of the living room window that would stop to eat at the feeders. Before her illness, she loved to take long rides through the White Mountains with her husband, son and daughter-in-law, stopping to have a picnic lunch at one of the many roadside scenic stops along the way.
She is survived by her husband Jack; her three children - John Jr. and his wife Linda, Joani, and Jeff and his wife Marie; her 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Marsella, Travis Tuck, Joanna Russell, Wesley Russell and Andrew Russell and his wife Ashley; and eight great grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire located at 243 Hanover Street in Manchester, NH on Friday, May 28th at 1:00.
