Edmond Denis Ducharme, 84, passed away on October 3, 2026, following a brief illness. He passed peacefully in the hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 7, 1942, Edmond lived a life centered around family, companionship, service to others, and an appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.

As a young man, Edmond proudly served his country in the United States Army from July 6, 1960, until June 25, 1963. His military service would also lead to one of the most important chapters of his life. While stationed in Ludwigsburg, West Germany, Edmond met the woman who would become his lifelong partner, Heide-Maria. Their meeting marked the beginning of a love story that would span continents and more than six decades.

Edmond and Heide-Maria later married in the United States in 1966. For 60 years, they shared a life together, building a family, raising children, caring for others, and creating a lifetime of memories side by side.

Edmond worked for Nashua Corporation for many years, spending time at both its Nashua and Merrimack locations. His years with the company represented a significant part of his working life. Edmond eventually retired following a back injury.

One of Edmond’s most memorable qualities was his wonderful sense of humor. No matter the situation, he could usually find a reason to make a joke or bring a little laughter into the moment. His lighthearted humor was simply part of who he was. He loved to joke, loved to make people laugh, and had a remarkable ability to make a friend wherever he went. Whether someone had known Edmond for years or had only just met him, it rarely took long before he was sharing a joke, a laugh, or a story with them.

Family extended far beyond their own children for Edmond and Heide. Together, they were dedicated foster parents, spending many years opening their home and hearts to children in need of care, stability, and a loving family environment. Throughout those years, they helped raise and care for many children, touching young lives through their commitment and willingness to provide a place to call home.

Edmond also valued his church community and served as a steward of Christ the King in Nashua. His service to his church was another reflection of the importance he placed on community and helping others.

Edmond found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed playing cards, bird watching, collecting stamps and baseball cards, and taking long, scenic car rides across the state. He especially loved visiting the ocean, enjoying the beauty and peacefulness of the coast. Many of these simple pleasures were made even more meaningful because they were shared with Heide, his constant companion throughout their many years together.

Edmond is survived by his devoted wife, Heide-Maria Ducharme; his son Faron Ducharme and daughter-in-law Michelle; his daughter Desiree Streeper and son-in-law Eric; his son Tove Ducharme and his girlfriend Jenna; his youngest daughter, Hannah Ducharme; and his sister, Carol Macarther, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Conrad J. Ducharme and Marie B. Ducharme (Olivette), and his sister, Sandra Greywacz.

He was a proud and loving grandfather to Olivia, Benjamin, Riley, and Ephram, and a cherished great-grandfather to Payton. His family also looks forward to welcoming his soon-to-be-born great-grandson, Jack, who will grow up knowing his great-grandfather through the stories, laughter, memories, and love passed down by his family.

Edmond’s life cannot simply be measured by his 84 years, but by the people he loved, the children he helped care for, the country and community he served, the friendships he made, and the laughter he brought into the lives of others. Whether he was playing cards, watching the birds, adding something to one of his collections, taking a scenic drive, visiting the ocean, or sharing another one of his jokes, Edmond had a way of making ordinary moments memorable.

During his final days, Edmond was surrounded by the people he loved most. His family takes comfort in knowing that he was not alone and that he left this life surrounded by their love.

There will undoubtedly be moments when those who loved him will find themselves thinking, “Edmond would have had a joke for this.” And in those moments, his humor and spirit will continue to bring a smile.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts—and laughter—of his family and friends.
