Edna Martha Hadley Naglie died at the age of 88 on April 25, 2004, at the Good Shepherd Home in Jaffrey, New Hampshire. She was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, on February 17, 1916, to the late Harris and Martha Hadley. Edna was educated in Manchester, attending kindergarten at the Spring Street School, then attending Franklin Elementary School. She graduated from Manchester Central High School in January, 1934. Shortly thereafter she entered the nursing school at the Eliot Hospital in Manchester. In March of 1937 she received her Registered Nurse (RN) degree. Mrs. Naglie worked for a short time at the Eliot Hospital and the Hale Hospital in Haverhill, Massachusetts. She was a private duty nurse for a number of years in Peterborough, New Hampshire, but spent the major portion of her career at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, where for many years she was the night supervisor. She was an active member of the New Hampshire State Nursing Association, serving as secretary in the 1950s. Her career spanned fify-five years. She was a dedicated nurse who always said that she would choose nursing all over again. She was married in Wilton, New Hampshire, in September, 1937, to the late Kenneth Norman Naglie of Peterborough. She is survived by a daughter, Lillie Thurman (William R., Jr.) of Thomaston, Georgia, and two sons, James Naglie (Evelyn) and Earle Naglie II, both of Peterborough; eight grandchildren: Michael Naglie (Toni) of Temple, New Hampshire; Patrick Naglie (Tina) of Peterborough; Juno Miller (David) of Peterborough; Rebecca Thurman of Atlanta, Georgia; Kathryn Grier (Harry) of Dothan, Alabama; Victoria Thurman of Lakewood, Colorado; Jennifer Hardy (Christopher) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Christopher Thurman (Jana) of Carrollton, Georgia. In addition, Mrs. Naglie is survived by fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons; a niece, Jacqueline Palmer (Robert) of Titusville, Florida; a nephew, William Hadley (Linda) of Assumption, Illinois; and numerous other nieces and nephews. A memorial graveside service will be held at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Manchester at 10 AM on Friday, May 7, 2004. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Monadnock Humane Society's spaying and neutering of cats program, in Keene, New Hampshire.
