Edward Thomas Barry of New London, NH, an educator for thirty seven years, died on March 28, 2002 at his home. He was 75. He received his bachelor's degree from St Anselm's College, a master's degree from Boston University and a sixth year diploma from Columbia University. During WWII, he served with the US Navy in the South Pacific Theatre. Ed taught at the elementary and secondary levels for eight years in Fairfield, CT and was a guidance counselor for two years and a high school principal for twenty years in Branford, CT. After his Connecticut career, Ed served as principal of the Upper Valley high schools in Hanover, Orford, and Lebanon, NH for seven years. Before his second retirement, he enjoyed a part-time position for Hypertherm for another seven years. An avid golfer, Ed was a member of the Madison Country Club in Connecticut and the Hanover, NH Country Club for many years. He was also active as a counselor for S.C.O.R.E., and most recently, a Habitat for Humanity volunteer in New London, NH. Ed leaves his wife, Agnes (McBride); two sons, James of Hanover, NH and Peter of Edinboro, PA; four daughters, Ellen Barry Robitaille of Medfield, MA, Katherine Barry Maselli of Dover, MA, Ann Barry Mitchell of Norfolk, MA, and Susan Barry of Springfield, MA; and ten grandchildren; Ed also leaves two sisters Patricia Barry of Marblehead, MA and Jane Glynn of North Andover, MA. A memorial mass will be held at St. Jaochim Parish in Sunapee, NH, Saturday April 27, 11:00am. Contributions may be sent to Hospice or Habitat for Humanity.
