Listen to Obituary

It is with both sadness and fond smiles that we announce the passing of our beloved Edward Francis Chernosky, age 79, of Plaistow, NH. Ed passed peacefully on November 17, 2025, at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington, MA.

Born on November 23, 1945, in Lawrence, MA, Ed was the son of Joseph V. and Edith M. (Janson) Chernosky. He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Virginia Biscoe Chernosky, who brought immeasurable joy and companionship to his life.

Ed grew up in Methuen, where he and his brother Joe spent countless hours fishing the local ponds and playing little league baseball. He graduated from Central Catholic High School, where he played varsity basketball, and went on to earn a degree in Political Science from Merrimack College in 1967. During those years, he cherished fraternity life and the friendships he made along the way.

Ed worked in the insurance industry for many years, valuing the camaraderie of his colleagues—and especially noticing one coworker who would later become his wife, Virginia “Ginny”.

Known for being gregarious, thoughtful, and generous, Ed had a warmth that made people feel welcomed and appreciated. He was a talented cook, and his family especially looked forward to his Thanksgiving turkey, red roasted potatoes, and sausage stuffing, all prepared to perfection. Ed was truly the glue of the family; his birthday phone calls became a tradition everyone treasured.

Ed is survived by his loving wife, Virginia; his brother, Joseph Chernosky Jr. and wife Margaret and his sister-in-law, Raimonda Yetton. He leaves behind his devoted nephews and niece Andrew Chernosky, Luke Chernosky, Ethan Yetton and partner Tara, Breda Putnam Morgano and husband Jeff, along with great-nephews and great-niece Tanner, Camden, and Addison Morgano. And his sister, Mary Salach, and husband David and niece Leah Salach Adams and husband Chris.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Edith Chernosky, and his dear sister, Anne (Chernosky) Putnam Piro.

Ed will be dearly missed and forever remembered for his warmth, gentleness, and infectious laughter.

A private Celebration of Life will be held in the near future.
