Edward A. Heleniak, 81, of Manchester, died peacefully on July 30, 2006 at the hospice house in Concord with family by his side following a three year battle with cancer. He was born in Norwich, CT on December 1, 1924, the son of Felix and Sophia (Gassek) Heleniak. Her served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952 and then transferred into the Army Reserves. He worked for Anchor Electric in the shipping and receiving department until his retirement after 35 years of service. He was devoted to his family and his Catholic faith. He was a member of the League of 1000 Men of Precious Blood Monastery and belonged to the Men of St. Joseph. He loved summer and winter fishing and playing cards with his friends. Family members include his wife of 53 years, Evelyn (Byk) Heleniak; three daughters, Cathleen Chavanelle of Manchester, Carolyn Marquis of Candia and Cynthia Beauchesne of Auburn; four grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Heleniak of New Britain, CT and Joseph Heleniak of Manchester; and nephews, nieces and cousins. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 22, 10 A.M. at St. Hedwig Church. Urn burial with military honors will follow in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery.
