Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Edward E. Houston, known to just about everyone as Buddy, passed away at the age of 71 in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Buddy was predeceased by his father, Edward Norman Houston, and his beloved mother Carolyn Houston and his sisters Debbie and Maddy. While their absence left a space in his life, those who knew Buddy knew he carried them with him in his own quiet, steadfast way.

He is survived by his sisters Thelma, Norma, Judy, and brother Chucky, and shared an especially deep and cherished bond with his baby sister, Bessie—a connection that remained strong, meaningful, and uniquely theirs throughout his life.

Buddy leaves behind a legacy in his children: his son Micah and Micah’s daughter; his daughter Naomi and her two daughters and six sons; his daughter Alicia and her two sons; and his son Jacob and his two daughters. While Buddy’s journey as a father was not without its challenges, his children chose forgiveness, understanding, and love. In the end, that love endured—strong, unconditional, and deeply human.

He also leaves behind a wide circle of nieces and nephews—because to so many, he wasn’t just Buddy… he was “Uncle Buddy,” a title worn with humor, pride, and a little bit of mischief.

Buddy lived life loud and unapologetically. He loved music—especially Pink Floyd—and could often be found with a guitar nearby or a song playing at full volume. He loved the kind of music that spoke to the soul, especially Pink Floyd, often reflecting lines like “Hello… is there anybody in there?” and “I have become comfortably numb.” Those closest to him knew there was always more beneath the surface—a quiet depth shaped beneath years of a gypsy soul lifestyle.

If it had loud pipes, roaring engines, or the smell of grease, Buddy was all in. Motorcycles, cars, camping trips, and anything that blended freedom with horsepower brought him joy.

Buddy had a way of cutting through life’s noise with simple truths. One of his favorites was, “this too shall pass.” And if he could leave one message behind, it would likely be this: don’t stay sad too long. Life keeps moving, engines keep running, and there’s always another song to play.

He would want to be remembered not with heavy hearts, but with laughter, loud music, and maybe a little extra volume on the speakers.

Celebration of Life

[Details to be announced]

Buddy Houston will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and never forgotten—especially every time a guitar plays, an engine roars, or someone turns the music up just a little too loud.
