Edward Craft Kozma, son of the late Alieze Burchardt (Craft) and Edward Kozma, died on September 23rd, 2026. Edward was born and raised in New Jersey. He and his late wife, Elaine, spent their final years in New Hampshire in order to be closer to their daughter Eula Lee Kozma, their son-in-law Josh Sattely, and their grandchildren Alieze (14) and Miles (12). In addition to Eula and her family, Edward is survived by his sister Lorna Gordon and his nephew Robert Gordon.

Edward was a devoted partner and husband to Elaine for 49 years. They were the type of couple that were nearly inseparable: spending only a few nights apart from one another over the course of their marriage and sharing both endless quirky jokes and wordless communication that only they understood.

Edward loved conversation and meeting new people. He was known to chat up anyone he encountered in a line at the store and to give a friendly hello to someone he met on the street. He enjoyed following sports and listening to talk radio. He could often be found getting his once daily 5-6 mile walk in while sporting an old yellow Sony radio headset. He was an avid reader who read four newspapers every morning in addition to countless books and magazines.

His passion for athletics ran deep as he loved to both watch and play a variety of sports. Basketball and golf were his favorite to play, but he preferred to watch baseball. Edward held many jobs over his lifetime, but he especially cherished his time as the General Manager of the New Jersey Gems, an early iteration of the WNBA from 1978-1981.

Edward’s family will be having a private celebration of life this fall with plans to visit New Jersey in the spring or summer. In lieu of flowers Edward’s family encourages those who wish to make a gift to his granddaughter Alieze’s upcoming participation in the Walk to End Alzheimer's here:
