Effie B. McLain, 89, of 80 Walnut Street, Rochester, NH died March 30, 2004 at her home in the presence of family, after a brief illness. She was born October 24, 1914 in West Danbury, Vermont. She spent most of her life in Warner and Rochester, NH. Effie was a member of the James Farrington Chapter #7 Order of Eastern Star, Pomona Grange, Sullivan County, and a past member of the Rochester Lioness Club. She leaves behind a loving family, one daughter and son-in-law Sally A. and Paul J. Doucette of Somerset, Mass, one son and daughter-in-law John D. and Dottie McLain of Raymond, NH, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a brother, Charles Brown and a half brother Willis Brown, a step sister Jennie Arey and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 31 years, J.Donald McLain, and a brother Frank Brown. There are no calling hours. A grave side service will be celebrated Saturday, April 3rd at 2:00 PM at the Rochester Cemetery on Franklin Street. Donations of remembrance may be sent to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road.
