Eileen Robbins Barton passed away in Ayer, Massachusetts, December 2, 2016. She was born January 28, 1921 in Newburyport, Massachusetts, the daughter of Exilda Marie (Roy) and Lawrence A. Robbins of Amesbury, Massachusetts, where she grew up. Christened Elien M. Robbins, she changed the spelling to Eileen in her youth. She married David C. Barton in 1941, with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage shortly before his death in 2002. She was predeceased by her parents and her two younger brothers, Lawrence A. Robbins Jr. and Malcolm D. Robbins

Eileen lived many years in Vermont, where she and her husband raised two children. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, sang in the church choir, was a Girl Scout Troop leader, and was involved in many community activities. After her husband’s retirement, they moved to St. Augustine, Florida, and lived there for 30 years. After her husband passed away, and as she entered her 90s, she returned to New England to be near family.

Eileen loved working in her flower gardens both in Vermont and Florida. For hobbies after retiring to Florida, she explored the family genealogy, took up painting in oils and producing many beautiful pieces primarily of scenes in Florida, and joined a ladies’ Bridge group. She was introduced to golfing in her 60s and became an avid golfer. Her proudest golfing achievement was making a Hole In One.

Eileen loved entertaining friends and was a wonderful cook. She and her husband loved dancing and going to social events with friends. Their groups of friends both in Vermont and Florida spent time camping, golfing, and traveling together.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet Fabozzi and her husband William of Niceville, Florida, and her son, David L.C. Barton and his wife Bette of Pepperell, Massachusetts, as well as five grandchildren an four great-grandchildren.

Eileen is interred beside her husband at Memorial Gardens Columbarium, Memorial Presbyterian Church, St. Augustine, Florida.
