Eileen Forshay Hayward, 88, passed away Thursday February 17, 2011 at Watson Fields in Dover NH. She was born in the Bronx, New York on October 4, 1922 to Charles and Marie (Cowman) Buckley. Her father was a 15 term Democratic Congressman from New York and a close ally of the Kennedy family; Eileen was immensely proud of him and shared his love of politics.
She was a 1944 graduate of the College of Mount Saint Vincent in New York and after graduation became a legal secretary in New York. In 1946 she married John Forshay and with him raised a family, living in New York, Houston, and Maryland. After John's untimely death in 1969 she raised her daughters alone and later married Donald Hayward. They lived in Maryland and Palm Coast, Florida . She was again widowed and then spent much of her time visiting her five daughters and their children. She had a lifelong passion for playing Bridge and was pleased that she was generally the winner.
She is survived by her 5 daughters : Elisabeth Docwra and her husband Tony of Lee, NH; Alice Tansey and her husband Bill of Lee, NH; Marie Hellman and her husband Stan of Oakland, Ca; Adrianne Forshay and her wife Blanche of Lafayette, Ca and Jeanette Forshay of Potomac, Md. Ten loving grandchildren survive her. She is also survived by 3 stepdaughters: Leslie Majumdar, Ann Breidenstein and Jean Meade .
