Eileen L Petruk

August 15, 1927 — July 13, 2022

Deering, NH

Eileen Petruk, 94, passed away peacefully on July 13th surrounded by her loving family after a period of declining health. Born on August 15, 1927 to Margos and Lilla (Morin) Mardigian, Eileen was a lifelong resident of the Queen City.

Eileen worked tirelessly at her parents restaurant Mikes Lunch from a very young age until their retirement. She graduated from Manchester Central High School where she met her lifelong friend Connie Lanctot Fitzwater. Eileen also attended Hesser Business School and became a dental assistant—a job she loved.

Eileen married Leon Petruk on July 4, 1950—they were married for 63 years.  Eileen and Leon spent many summers at their family camp on Suncook Lake enjoying boating, swimming, fishing with her Father and celebrating many family birthdays. Eileen and Leon enjoyed traveling; they went on many cruises to various parts of the world. Their favorite destination was always the annual reunion of Leon’s battalion—the 390th bomb group. This trip was a special time to reconnect with Leons old war buddies and their wives. In Eileens later years (91 and 94) she traveled across the country with her daughter, son in law and his mother in their RV. The highlight of the trip for Eileen was visiting with her cousin Gail Crotty and partner Ann Justice in California.

Eileen had many hobbies including bowling, knitting, crocheting, reading and crossword puzzles.  She was an avid sun worshipper and loved the beach. Every Saturday night she and Leon would go to the Sweeney Post for a night of dancing with her beloved cousin Billy Morin and his wife Ruth.

Eileen was predeceased by her husband Leon, her only sibling Edna Hagopian and her nice Anne Hagopian. Eileen leaves behind two daughters, Lee Petruk and her partner Phil McMahon, Lisa MacDowell and her husband Jeff, two grandchildren, Mackenzie Fleming and his wife Molly, Mitchell Fleming and his wife Jackie and their father James Fleming.  She also leaves her great friend and care giver Nancy Cataño, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Eileen will always be remembered for her strength of character, sense of humor and her love of family. She will be deeply missed.

Family and friends are invited to gather and pay their respects for both Eileen and Leon Monday, August 22nd 12:00pm-2:45PM at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 172 King St in Boscawen.
