Eleanor Cunningham, 95, of Manchester, NH, passed away on December 6, 2024, with family at her side.
Eleanor was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the fifth of seven children of August & Clara (Lang) Stoehr. Eleanor grew up in Pittsburgh. In 1954, Eleanor married Edward “John” Cunningham. Together, they celebrated over 60 years of marriage before John’s passing in 2016.
In 1958, Eleanor and John began their family. From that point on, Eleanor made raising her children her number one role and priority in life. Eleanor never missed a chance to gather family and friends to enjoy a meal, a beverage (or two) and laughs. And Eleanor also never missed remembering the birthdays and anniversaries of her siblings, nieces and nephews and their children, or the extended families of many of her friends. Eleanor was a regular at the greeting shop store buying cards, and in her later years to buy supplies to make cards, to commemorate all of life’s milestones for family and friends.
Eleanor was an active member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Manchester, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, a Youth Group Leader and a Member of the Mary Martha Women’s Group.
Surviving Eleanor are her three children, Denise Merrill and her partner Gary Lasman, Craig Cunningham and his wife, Jeannie, and Keith Cunningham and his wife, Julie; four grandchildren, Rebecca, Andrew, Ryan and Megan; and many nieces and nephews. Eleanor was pre-deceased by her siblings, Carl, Mildred, Winifred, Virginia, Robert, and Walter.
SERVICES: A memorial service will be held at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 65 Sagamore St., Manchester, NH, on Monday, December 23rd at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery.
