Eleanor "Ellie" "Effie" Carter Watts, 83, passed away October 11, 2017 at Havenwood-Heritage Heights in Concord after 6 years of wonderful care. She was born in Manchester, NH on April 6, 1934, daughter of the late Bernard and Ellen Carter.
She grew up in New Boston and Concord, NH graduating from Concord High School Class of 1952. A group of high school friends had breakfast together monthly over the past 20 years that she enjoyed greatly, with many friends living in the Havenwood community.
After marrying Thomas Watts (1958) they moved to Walpole, NH, Barre, VT and Troy VT. They were of the owners of Troy General Store for 11 years while living in Troy and making many friends.
They returned to Dunbarton, NH in 1992 where Effie/Ellie was employed as a bank teller until 2006 when she retired.
Effie/Ellie is predeceased by her husband, Thomas in 2010, her parents, Bernard and Ellen Carter, a sister Carolyn Gamlin, and 2 brothers, Richard and David F. Carter.
She is survived by her 3 children, daughter, Patricia Spaulding of Randolph, VT and twins Kenneth Watts of Henniker, NH and Karen Joslin of Pembroke, NH; 3 grandchildren, Daniel Spaulding and his wife Megan of Barre, VT, Christopher Joslin and longtime girlfriend Molly MacRae of Concord, NH and Amanda Bedell of Randolph, VT and 3 great grandchildren, Kaiden, Leah and Carter Spaulding. She is also survived by sister-in-law Beulah Carter along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Ellie made an impact on everyone she came in contact with and made them feel a part of her life as she became a part of theirs. She celebrated triumphs and grieved in their sorrows. She was quick to smile and had a great sense of humor. In the last year Ellie loved to have her dog Molly in her lap as she went for a walk in her wheelchair.
Her family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Havenwood, she was very well cared for and loved them all.
Memorial Services will be held at the East Concord Congregational Church at 10:30 on Friday, October 20. A short committal service with then be held at the Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
