“Betty” Elizabeth Mary (Rivard) Jackson, 81. The beautiful woman well loved by her friends and neighbors was known as Betty and was the only child of Angeline (Roy) Rivard and Ernest Rivard. She was born on September 22, 1941 in Manchester. She came home from the birth hospital to the same house she lived in until her death 81 years later. Betty died December 12, 2022 with her husband at her bedside. Her death was from an infection which followed two years of declining health. They had no children.
Betty graduated St Joseph’s High School for Girls. One of her first employers was Bell Shops on Elm Street. Following some part-time work, Betty began a 33 year career at the Union Leader/Sunday News newspapers. It was there she met and eventually married a co-worker, Dale Jackson. They left the paper together in 1991 and started a retail store Sweatshirts Etc. in Raymond, NH. Betty and Dale lived in Candia, NH for 25 years, then retired to the original home she kept and loved on the Merrimack River. Betty enjoyed being with friends and neighbors and fixing and improving her home. Her favorite pastime was looking at “her river” and the diverse activity on it. Except for Dale, there are no surviving relatives. There are no services planed.
Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, Manchester. To view Betty's Online Tribute, send condolences to the family, or for more information, visit www.csnh.com.
