Following a life lived with purpose, dignity, and grace, Elizabeth J. “Betty” Blazon, 96, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, after a period of declining health. A long-time resident of Concord, she spent her last years among friends at John H. Whitaker Place and Merrimack County Nursing Home.

Born on September 5, 1929, Betty was the daughter of the late James and Nora (Farrell) Supry. The third of five siblings, she was especially close to her sister Kay and brother George. After graduating from St. John’s High School in Concord, Betty put herself through nursing school, graduating from Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Manchester, NH, in 1950. She enjoyed working in various settings in Concord during her career, including doctors’ offices and convalescent homes. She was the epitome of a capable, caring, and compassionate nurse. She had an amazing bedside manner and an intuitive ability to help patients live in comfort and dignity, even under the most difficult of circumstances.

Betty was a loving wife and mother, a devoted friend, and a good neighbor in the old-time tradition of good neighbors. She enjoyed time with her family most of all, and was remarkable for her sincerity, sparkling sense of humor, and indomitable spirit. We will all miss her words of wisdom, her witty comebacks, and her deep and abiding love.

Betty was predeceased by her husband Roland, her son Phillip, and her four siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Roy and her husband Richard of Concord; three grandchildren, Ryan Blazon of Penacook, Matthew Roy of Bar Harbor, Maine, and Emily Roy of Concord; and several nieces and nephews. The family would also like acknowledge Robbie and Kristen, who held a special place in Betty’s heart, and she in theirs.

Betty will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

The family is forever indebted to the caring staff members at John H. Whitaker Place and Merrimack County Nursing Home, and to the devoted caregivers of Granite VNA, who so enriched Betty’s life in her last years. Donations in memory of Betty may be made to Granite VNA at 30 Pillsbury Street, Concord, NH 03301, or to Merrimack County Nursing Home, 325 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303.
