Concord, NH â Elizabeth (Betsy) Hamlin-Morin, 73, died suddenly on December 4, 2020. She was born in Bethesda, Maryland, to Harold S. Hamlin Jr. and Kathleen (Lowrey) Hamlin. As part of a Navy family, she moved regularly and lived on the east and west coasts at various times as well as the Washington DC area.
Betsy graduated from The University of Wisconsin (Madison) with a degree in Anthropology and went on to earn two Masters degrees (Library Science and Vocational Education Administration) from the University of Wisconsin. Her first professional library job was as library director of what is now known as the Manchester Community College. She later became the manuscripts curator at the NH Historical Society. A position that ideally suited her attention to detail and ability to organize large amounts of information and make it accessible.
After she retired, she took up landscape quilting, and studying the natural world around her. She produced numerous photo albums of all that she discovered, all carefully organized and referenced. She was an enthusiastic traveler and especially enjoyed exploring places of historical and cultural note as well as places that contained interesting flora and fauna. Upon returning from her far flung journeys she would devote many hours to producing comprehensive photo albums.
An avid life-long reader of works of fiction she always enjoyed reading a good mystery, especially if it was set in the medieval period.
She was pre-deceased by son Gregory D. Morin, and is survived by husband of 41 years, Jeffrey Morin, son Douglas Morin and his wife Emily Meacham of Whitefield, NH, daughter-in-law Erica Morin and granddaughter Kate Morin of Newton, MA. Also surviving Betsy is her brother Peter Hamlin and his wife Lee Mason of Framingham, MA.
An outdoor memorial service will be held in the spring. No flowers please. Condolences for the family may be sent to 251 Mountain Rd., Concord, NH 03301. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is assisting the family with arrangements. To view an online memorial, or for more information please go to www.csnh.com.
