Elizabeth “Betty” Kittle, 95, formerly of Rye, N.H. passed away on September 1, 2021 at Carriage Hill in Madbury, NH. She was born on July 31, 1926 in Boston, MA, daughter of the late Edward J. Herie and Nellie Reed Herie and was a graduate of Central High School in Scranton, PA.
Betty was the widow of George D. Kittle, her husband of 54 years. They enjoyed many vacations in Florida and more recently to Europe. They moved from Manchester, NH to Rye, NH in 1984.
Betty was treasurer of the Brandon, VT Mother’s Club, co-president of Parent Teacher’s Association, a charter member of the Brandon Players Group and active in the Catholic Daughters of America. She was employed by Sears as a department manager for 21 years in the Lowell, MA and Manchester and Newington, NH stores. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the United Way.
Betty loved the beach, was an avid reader and enjoyed politics.
Her proudest accomplishments were her eight children, Mary Kittle Cross, John Kittle (Donna), Steven Kittle (Karen), Christopher Kittle (Kathy), Michael Kittle, Georgann Kittle Cherim, Joseph Kittle, and Dionne Kittle Hilton (David); her 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Joseph in 2012.
Arrangements: A memorial celebration of her life and that of her late husband and son will be held at a date to be determined by her family culminating in the strewing of their combined ashes in the ocean, near their much loved home in Rye.
