Elizabeth Lewis

November 16, 1951 — September 17, 2022

Amherst, NH

Elizabeth L. Lewis, known to all as Liz, passed away on 17 September 2022 at home. She was born in Jersey City, NJ on 16 November 1951 and was the daughter of Anthony and Elizabeth (Ruttler) Nadratowski.

Liz graduated from Saint Aloysius High School in Jersey City and went on to attend New York University for a short time on full scholarship before returning home for family obligations.  Liz kept the books for several companies in NJ before going overseas, where she worked for the Desert Oasis Association, Hughes Aircraft, and briefly for the US Military Training Mission to Saudi Arabia. After moving back to the US, she ended her career working for Amherst Bookkeeping.

Liz married Stephen E. Lewis on 7 February 1981 in Bayonne, NJ and they began more than a 41-year journey that would take them numerous places around the world and would result in friendships that would last a lifetime before ultimately settling in Amherst, NH.  Liz was an excellent cook, especially Italian, and made some of the best gravy (not sauce) people ever tasted. She was passionate about Christmas and spending time in December with family and friends in Disney World, enjoyed crafts of all kinds, and especially loved making things with good friends, her children, and grandchildren. She was a great friend with a kind spirit and warm heart who is already deeply missed.

Liz was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Paul. In addition to her husband, Liz is survived by her brother, Anthony; children Jennifer, James, and Joshua; grandchildren Ivy, Dominic, Patience, and Carrigan; and great-granddaughter Amelia.

Per her wishes, no wake or services are planned. Should anyone be so inclined, a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Nashua Soup Kitchen would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
