Elizabeth Sprague

Elizabeth I. (McCarthy) Sprague peacefully passed away on Friday September 23, 2022.  Known by all that knew her as Betsy, she was born on May 13, 1953, to Ruth A Mills and William E McCarthy in Yonkers, New York.  A graduate of Spaulding High school, she lived most of her life in Rochester and Farmington.

Betsy was the best Meme to her grandchildren Tatyana Long, Izea Long, Zion Long, Jazar Sprague, Taraji Sprague, Chloe Weeks, Brian Weeks, and Great grandchild, Jaziah Handy.

She loved to have them over to stay with her, to go watch them play sports, to cook them their favorite meals, and always made sure they each had their very own favorite treats.  

Most will remember Betsy as a giving, hardheaded, independent, and very hard-working woman.  She worked for many years at Collins & Aikman, and then many more years as a Crossing Guard in Rochester, and  Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Environmental Services.  She liked to spend her weekends visiting with family and friends, cooking, working in her garden, watching Nascar races, and listening to Country Music.  She was an avid animal lover and always had a few pets.  Her beloved cats were her favorite companions, very spoiled and loved.  When she was able, she always found a way to help others and was very generous.

She is survived by her daughter Kerry Sprague; son Christopher Weeks and his wife Dawn;  she also leaves her sister Gail Pennell; brother Billy McCarthy and his wife Cheryl; nieces, nephews, and other extended family.  She was predeceased by her son Brian R. Weeks Jr., and niece Patricia Michaud.

 A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday November 20^th at the American Legion Post #72, Rt 28 Alton, NH.  Hours from 1-4pm.  The family asks that for anyone planning to attend to please dress casual, and wear something pink as it was Betsy’s favorite color.
