Elliott Searle Reed, 75 of Portsmouth, NH, died Sunday, January 19, 2003, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Rumford, Maine in 1927, the son of the late Daisy Mae (Searle) Reed and Walter S. Reed. He joined the US Navy in 1944 serving in W.W.II. After the war he joined the Army and later the Air Force , retiring in 1969. He was a member of the VFW post 168 and of the American Legion post 6 in Portsmouth. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a lifelong hunter and fisherman. Elliott was proud of his Scottish heritage and often wore his family kilts. He was well liked by many and will be sorely missed. He is survived by two sons, Elliott M. Reed and John T. Reed, 4 grandchildren, and a brother, Eugene Reed. His ashes will be buried at the Boscawen Veteran's Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at the VFW post Home, 238 Deer Street, Portsmouth, NH, at 5:00 PM on Saturday, January 25, 2003.
