Ellsworth George Vadney Sr, 95 of the Hackett Hill Center, Manchester NH died Tuesday February 17, 2015 at his residence of Congestive Heart Failure.

Born November 3, 1919 in Claremont NH to Ray Cleveland Claflin and Laura (Hale) Claflin. He was adopted at birth by George Henry Vadney and Lillian Minnie (Nutting) Vadney, who he always considered his real parents and was deeply devoted to. As a young boy in Claremont his cousin Howard Porter lived with him and was like a brother. The family moved from Claremont to Nashua during the Depression years and he told many fond stories of "The Bowers St Gang" including fishing at Harbor Pond and excursions out of town in his first car. He met the love of his life, Margaret Louise Gallagher, also from Crown Hill in Nashua and they were married on June 29, 1940. They enjoyed 54 wonderful years of marriage together. Ellsworth was educated in the Claremont and Nashua School Systems. He served his country proudly in the US Navy aboard the Light Cruiser, USS Brooklyn during WWII. He was employed by The Old Colony Furniture Co., Nashua Manufacturing Co, Textron Corp and Nashua Industrial Machine Company (NIMCO) as a machinist and foreman for almost 50 years. He lived in Claremont NH, Nashua NH, Barefoot Bay FL, Newbury NH, Bedford NH and Manchester NH.

An avid outdoorsman, Ellsworth enjoyed hunting and fishing all over NH but especially at a camp that he and Margaret built in Washington NH. He loved golf and was excited by the competition of golf tournaments, playing in numerous State and local tournaments, once scoring a Hole in One on the 9th hole at the "Whip". He and his wife Margaret were charter members of the Whip-Por-Will Golf club in Hudson NH where he served on the Board of Directors and as President. He was a lifelong member of the Rising Sun Lodge #39 in Nashua NH. Also he was a member of the Nashua Senior Center. Ellsworth was an active member of the Nashua Industrial Management Club for many years and served in many positions including President. Margaret and Ellsworth enjoyed organizing and running functions and often volunteered to plan shop outings, golf functions and parties. He traveled throughout the USA, Caribbean, Hawaii and Alaska. He loved animals especially his Bison Frise Suzette.

He is survived by: a son Ellsworth G Vadney Jr and wife Carol of Hooksett NH, A daughter Roberta Lumibao and husband Robert of Raymond NH. Four grandchildren: Timothy Vadney and wife Karen of Merrimack NH, Krista (Vadney) Boudreau and husband Nathan of Hooksett NH, Michael Tullis and wife Jasmine of Dover NH, Stacey (Tullis) Riley and husband Scott of Manchester NH. Eleven great grandchildren: Chris Riley, Ashley Riley, Emma Boudreau, Sam Boudreau, Jackson Bower, Timothy Vadney Jr, Katie Boudreau, Kaitlin Vadney, Jake Boudreau, Ronan Tullis and Ava Tullis. Sister in Laws Marie Vadney of Melbourne FL. Lena Gallagher of Orlando FL. Several Cousins, Nieces and Nephews. Special friends Luann Legros and brothers Wayne Legros of Manchester, Michael Legros of Fitchburg MA, Bob Legros of Melbourne FL. Ellsworth was predeceased by: His parents. His wife of 54 years Margaret Louise (Gallagher) Vadney, Feb 7, 1994. Siblings: Newton Claflin, Marjorie Claflin, Kenneth Claflin, Raymond L Vadney, Marguerite Claflin. Close friend and companion Jeanette Legros of Fitchburg MA.

He was a self-made, strong willed individual who experienced the Great Depression, WWII and became a successful contributor to his family and community.

SERVICES: Private graveside services with Military Honors will be held at a later date at the Edgewood Cemetery in Nashua NH. The Cremation Society of NH is in charge of arrangements. Condolences, thoughts and memories may be shared on line at their Tributes Site. www.csnh.com
