Elsie M. Savoy-Wilkins, 89, of Pembroke died February 17, 2003 at Hospice House in Concord following period of declining health. She was born in Lincoln, NH on July 17, 1913, the daughter of Archie and Stella ( Pollard ) Strickland. She was the grand daughter of William E. Pollard, the first settler of Lincoln. Elsie married Arcade "Cuddy" Savoy on June 20, 1936. Her and her husband operated Savoy's dining room and bakery for many years in Woodsville. After retiring from the restaurant the Savoy's worked at Lost River during the summer months. Cuddy passed away in 1982. She later met and married Merton A. Wilkins in 1988 and they had 5 happy years together until his passing. For the past ten years she was living with her daughter, Mrs. Norman ( Susanne ) Urton in Pembroke. Besides her daughter she leaves two son, Robert B. Savoy of Woodsville, N.H. and Peter M. Savoy of Lancaster, N.H. and their families; including 8 grandchildren and 5 great grand children. Elsie enjoyed many senior friends in the Pembroke area with whom she played cards and dominoes. Graveside services will be in the spring time in the family plot in North Woodstock, NH.
