Elza Marie (Silva) Letourneau, 63, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, at her home, surrounded by loved ones, after an unexpected and aggressive battle with cancer.
Born on June 17, 1961, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, Elza was the daughter of the late Maria (Santos) and Alvaro Silva. She immigrated to the U.S. at age 16 and settled in Lowell, MA, with her family. Elza was a hairdresser in Hampstead, NH, for over 30 years, with the last 18 years as the owner of Elza Styles Hair Alternatives.
Elza is survived by her children, Kay Lynch and her husband, Tyson, of Lynn, MA; Leanne Zieja and her husband, David, of North Andover, MA; and Kyle Letourneau and his wife, Nathalie, of Derry, NH; her former husband, Richard Letourneau, of Londonderry, NH; and her loving partner, Peter Campo, of Conway, NH. She was also a proud Vovó to her three grandchildren, Kaz, Elise, and Quinn, who were the light of her life.
Elza's warmth, compassion, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She loved cooking, dancing, and spending time with her friends and family.
In addition to her children, Elza is survived by her siblings: Manuel Alvaro Silva of Lowell, MA; Felicidade Silva and her partner, Fred Olivero, of Dracut, MA; Cilena Daigle and her husband, David, of Nashua, NH; Mary Jo Borges and her late husband, Walter, of Lowell, MA; Manuel Norberto Silva of France; Alvaro Silva and his wife, Kimberley, of Tewksbury, MA; Michael Silva of Nashua, NH; as well as the late João Silva and his wife, Liyan, of Newton, MA, and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember her with love.
A memorial Mass in Elza's honor will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 10:30 AM at St. Anne's Parish in Hampstead, NH NH and streamed virtually via the parish website. A celebration of her life will take place in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to EGFR Cancer Resisters (Link Below) to support specialized Non-small cell lung cancer research in women.
