In Loving Memory
Emily Serna
April 6, 1978 – June 7, 2026
Emily Serna, age 48, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, surrounded by the love of her family. She fought a brief battle against Acute Myeloid Leukemia, passing a mere two weeks after the diagnosis of the rare and aggressive cancer. Until the end, Emily fought with the same quiet grace and patient courage that carried her through a lifetime of unique challenges due to cerebral palsy. Her bravery, patience, and peaceful acceptance are admirable and inspiring.
Born on April 6, 1978, Emily grew up to become a woman of deep faith, boundless creativity, and genuine warmth. She was a beloved member of Grace Capital Church in Pembroke, New Hampshire, where her strong faith was a guiding light and her spirit a blessing to all who knew her.
Those who loved her knew to look for her at a craft fair — browsing, creating, and delighting in the handmade and the heartfelt. Her talent for crafting was more than a hobby; it was an expression of the care and thoughtfulness she poured into everything she did. Emily had a gift for making things beautiful and for making people feel seen, often personalizing gifts and commissions with thoughtful details specific to the individual.
Music filled her heart. She had a love of singing and a deep appreciation for contemporary Christian music, finding joy and peace in songs that reflected her faith. She could also be found working through a puzzle, cheering on the Boston Red Sox (or anyone who beat the Yankees), or enjoying a ride up to York Beach in Maine.
More than anything, Emily treasured her friends and family. She was a devoted daughter, a cherished sister, a loving aunt, and a loyal friend.
She is preceded in death by her father, James Serna, who passed on October 16, 2021. She is survived by her mother, Gail Serna; her sisters, Amy and Holly; and her niece, Abigail, who will carry her memory forward with love.
Emily leaves behind a world a little quieter without her laughter, a little emptier without her creativity, and forever richer for having known her gentle, generous soul.
A celebration of Life will be held at Grace Capital Church in Pembroke on July 18th from 1pm-3:30pm. Light refreshments will be available after the ceremony. All are welcome to attend.
Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH, Manchester. To view Emily’s Online Tribute, send condolences to the family, or for more information, visit www.csnh.com.
