Ethel M. Powell

Ethel M. Powell, 96, of 66 Preston Street ,died May 17,2001 at the Hillsboro House Nursing Home in Hillsboro. Mrs. Powell was born on January 13, 1905 in Penacook and was the daughter of John and Mabel (Bailey) Davis. Mrs. Powell was the widow of John H. Powell, Jr., who died in 1983. She retired from GTE Sylvania and previously helped maintain her family's farm and business. Mrs. Powell was a member of the Hillsboro School Board and belonged to the Rebecca Lodge and various other town organizations. She was also a member of the Hillsboro United Methodist Church. She was devoted to and enjoyed her family. Ethel also enjoyed various needlework and gardening. Family members include two daughters, Monna P. Wright of DeBary,FL and Kathleen Blood of Hillsboro; four grandchildren; two twin great granddaughters; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins. There will be no services. Those who wish may make donations to the Hillsboro Rescue Squad, Hillsboro, NH 03244. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements.
