Eugene Paul Hector

Eugene Paul Hector of Cornish, NH died Monday night, April 12, 2004, surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Rutland, VT on February 2, 1934, the son of the late Paul and Marion (Valequette) Hector. He grew up in West Lebanon, NH and raised his family in East Plainfield, NH before retiring in North Hartland, VT then Cornish, NH. He joined the NH National Guard and was mustered into service of the US Army during the Korean War where he was stationed at Thule Air Force Base in Thule, Greenland. He later joined the NHNG 744th Transportation Unit in Claremont, NH. He worked at Pine Tree Castings, Sturm Ruger in Newport, NH as a welder. He was also later the manager of Norm’s Gun Shop in White River Junction, VT. He was a lifelong gun collector, competition shooter and hunter. He was also a devoted advocate of our 2nd Amendment rights and life member of the NRA. He is survived by his oldest son, Eric Hector of Newport, NH; a son, Wade Hector, died previously in 1991 as part of Operation Desert Storm, and a son Blaine Hector; his four grandchildren, Bethany, Samuel, Bradley, and Josiah; his sister Phyllis Leavitt of Florida and West Lebanon; three nephews and one niece. Services will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2004, 1 pm, at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church, Main Street, Windsor, Vermont where he last attended. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Grafton County Fish and Game Association, Brook Road, West Lebanon, NH 03784 or the Hospice Program at the Sullivan County Nursing Home, c/o Carol Williams, Sullivan County Nursing Home, 5 Nursing Home Drive, Unity, NH 03743.
