Eugene "Gene" Hilston Nason, 79, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Bangor, Maine, and moved to Connecticut in 1953, where he lived until his retirement in 1994, when he and Ada moved to the house they built in Washington. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict.
He enjoyed traveling to many locations across the U.S. and to Florida to escape the cold northern winters in his retirement. During his free time, he enjoyed working with wood to create beautiful objects for his home and family.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas and Richard Nason.
He leaves behind his wife, Ada (Clement), with whom he shared 57 years of happiness; his daughter, Beryl Maseng and her husband, Erik, of Nashua, NH; his daughter, Terry Hosig and her husband, Brian, of South Windsor, Conn.; four grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Marie Maseng of Brighton, Mass., Karl Maseng of Nashua, NH, and Gavin and Samuel Hosig of South Windsor, Conn. He also leaves behind a brother, Charles Nason; and sister, Carolyn Everett of Bangor, Maine; and many nieces and nephews, in whose life he shared much joy.
His family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers that he had during his short stay at the veterans hospital in White River Junction, Vt.
A service celebrating his life will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Washington Congregational Church in Washington, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital; or the charity of one's choice.
