Evelyn E. Ferris, 90, of 106 Warner Street, Manchester died on December 29, 2000 at Elliot Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Ferris was born on November 13, 1910 the daughter of the late Hugo and Mary (Marquis Rott) Sowle. She was a lifelong resident of Manchester where she attended local schools and attended Central High School. She dedicated her life to taking care of her family and home. Mrs. Ferris was wonderful, caring, giving person who always cared about helping others. She enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing and reading. She was a parishioner of St. Raphaels Church. Family members include; one daughter, Evelyn M. Ferris of Manchester; one stepdaughter, Jean Horton of Plymouth, MA; four step- grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; one step great great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Ferris was the beloved wife of Fred O. Ferris who died in 1992 and stepmother to Frederick O. Ferris, Jr. who died in 1953. A memorial reception will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2001 from 9:30 until 10:30 AM at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire (an affiliate of Phaneuf Funeral Home), 243 Hanover Street, Manchester with a Memorial Mass to follow at 11:00 AM at St. Raphael Catholic Church, Ferry Street, Manchester. Urn burial in the family lot at Pinegrove Cemetery will take place at a later date. Donations may be made in her memory to VA Hospital, 718 Smyth Road, Manchester, NH 03014.
