Florette Elaine Ellis

Florette Elaine Ellis, 78, of Manchester, NH, passed away on December 29, 2024 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. Born in Hopewell, Hanover Parish, Jamaica on December 16, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Isaha and Zerona (Grant) Ellis.

Florette was raised in Jamaica and was a graduate of Rusea’s High School. She went on to earn her Associate’s Degree from Medgar Evers College. She was very studious and bright and was fluent in four languages: Patois, Spanish, Swahili and English. She eventually moved to New York, where she spent many years managing Ballet Jewelry in Manhattan. She loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. She enjoyed dancing and socializing. Above all else, she cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Florette is survived by her children, Stephanie Fray of New York, Annmarie Jumpp and her husband Michael of New Hampshire, and Shane Thompson Jr. of Jamaica; her siblings, Bobbie Ellis and his wife Maryann of Massachusetts, Kenneth Ellis and his wife Jenna of Florida, Ena Maughn and her husband Hamilton of New Hampshire, Winsom Murry and her husband Lance of Jamaica, Kingsley Ellis, Colin Ellis of Jamaica; her five grandchildren, Zack Thompson, Roger Fray, Michael Jumpp, Christopher Johnson, and Jasmine Jumpp; her great-granddaughter, Celina Johnson; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 5PM-5:30PM with a Memorial Service to follow from 5:30PM - 7:00PM at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH.  A Reception will follow at the Manchester Church of God, 230 Mooresville Road, Manchester, NH. Family and friends are invited to attend.
