Floyd Gary Newton

Floyd “Gary” Newton, 64, of 177 State Street, Portsmouth, NH died on May 24, 2000 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Newton was born on December 31, 1935 in San Diego, CA the son of Floyd and Adeline (Pykles) Newton. He was the founder and artistic director of The Players’ Ring Theatre in Portsmouth. He had a passion for the theatre and enjoyed all of its many aspects including design and play writing. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Barbara (Lakin) Newton; one son, Orin “Frost” Newton of Oakland, CA; one daughter, Mrs. John (Jan) Stephens of Forest Ranch, CA; his parents, Floyd Newton of Long Beach, CA and Adeline (Pykles) Newton of La Mesa, CA; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. C.C. (Susan) Snyder of Poughkeepsie, NY; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
